P.P.S.: FYI (just in case), when you install W7 after XP like that, the W7 bootloader stuff is located in the XP partition. Anyway, unscientifically, I have had to re-install GRUB many more times than I have had to re-install NTLoader. I consider it more stable long term than GRUB. In fact, I still use NTLoader to multi-boot XP and Fedora. NTLoader and Bootmgr are perfectly good boot loaders for booting your Windows systems. The grldr file contains an embedded pre-boot menu.lst in the last 512 bytes of the file.

P.S.: I also don't know why you want to do this. The grldr.mbr file can be obtained from inside the grub4dos download zip file and comprises of the MBR boot sector and the Stage 1.5 boot code - it will look for the /grldr file and then run it. I use it myself for one of my machines just to stay proficient with it. Anyway, the usual chainloader command will work with GRUB4DOS. It might also directly execute bootmgr.exe of Windows 7, but that is one I can't say for sure (I don't own it). In addition to the usual chainloader command to boot Windows, this GRUB can directly execute ntldr of Windows XP (even GNU GRUB can't do that). The bootstrapping program in the MBR will find and execute grldr which reads menu.lst (which you have to adjust for your situation) and presents a boot menu. Then you place its main file (grldr) and its config file (menu.lst) in any compatible partition (NTFS is okay with this GRUB). There is a little applet for installing it in the master boot record (). It uses the same commands and menu.lst file as GNU legacy GRUB. But for that, you should use GRUB for DOS (aka GRUB4DOS).
